I just saw on VA Preps the RAIDERS 49 Honaker 48
Union Pines, NC I believe was the school. AAA in NC. They beat CW by 8 or 10 I think. CW should be about 24-1 or so.

Union Pines(AAA school) beat Castlewood by 3. Castlewood was down by 1 with the ball and 9 seconds left and turned it over and had to foul. Pines made both free throws and sealed the deal. Cwood also beat Sullivan Central by 16 this year and beat VA High and beat 2 AA or AAA teams out of NC so they have played a pretty tough non district schedule not to mention played in the strongest district in the region.
Strongest district in the region? How many teams from their district are still in the regional playoffs?
Burton squeaks by a win on this one. These two teams were very evenly matched, and the game could have gone either way.

Burton did not play that well...If they can step it up and play together they might be able to hang with C-Wood.
It is the strongest district in the region.. With the exception of Gate City and Twin Valley, I feel that Rye Cove, St. Paul, and Twin Springs could beat all of the other LPD and BDD teams.. Overall, the Cumberland is the strongest IMO.
JIB is definitely capable of giving Castlewood a good game. Have to give credit to Honaker who played a good game as well. Of the remaining teams in the tournament, I think Twin Valley could provide the toughest challenge to Castlewood though.

The cumberland's the same every year. You have 1 dominant team. One team that can play with em on occasion. The dominant team wins out in regular season and goes to state and chokes. Past few years it was TS..this year it happens to be castlewood...pat em on the back, throw em a cookie. Top to bottom the CD isn't much better than anyone else if at all. CW may be the best team in the region..but the rest of the CD isn't that strong...that's why there are 2 LPD teams and not 2 CD teams still alive. But really, it's only basketball...not like it's football or something.
...And if you ain't down with that, I got 2 words for ya....
You've lost your mind.. Last year in the cumberland, we had a 3 way tie for 1st.. Year before that we had a 2 way tie for 1st.. That is not one dominant team.. True, this year Castlewood has been dominant but both RC and TS gave them one good game each.. The reason that there are 2 LPD teams still alive is because of the pairings.. RC and SP could beat both Honaker and Burton IMO.. And I wouldn't put it past TS beating them as well. If all the teams in the 3 districts played all of the other teams, I think you would see most of the Cumberland teams in the top half of the standings.
